We're Moving!

I currently live within 5-10 minutes walking distance to work, which is awesome... but due to some issues with the current apartment that I won't go into, we've decided to move when our lease expires the end of this month.  Our apartment hunt was super short... we only went to see one place, immediately fell in love, and officially signed our lease today!

It's a brand-new small building of loft-style units, literally across the street from our favorite restaurants and Asian market (and hair salon too!).  It's a 1 bedroom + loft/den with 2 baths, and the rent is about the same as what we're currently paying now (which is outrageously expensive in any other city than LA/NY).

Here's the building exterior:

Interior:

And of course the must-have in unit washer/dryer:

I even like the cute little courtyard:

Since it's brand-new and therefore unoccuppied, we got our keys today and can start moving in even though our lease doesn't start until June... I'm so excited!

  1. Amazing!! I am so jealous! We love modern lofts, but in Boston that is so impractical with the cost of heat.

  6. Thanks everyone! We love it and can't wait to move in. It's amazing what high ceilings can do to open up a place!

  7. Amazing!!! I want to move so bad!!! Are you in Mar Vista by any chance? I know there's a great Asian market right there, so that's why I ask.

  8. I'm in love with this! Your kitchen especially with the upper cabinets having glass fronts - I hope you have some great pieces or colorful dishes to show off :)

  13. Wow what a beautiful space to call home! Congrats!!

You're lucky you can wear soft lens and not hard.. I've gotten used to hard ones, but in comparison, soft lens are MUCH more comfortable!!

  15. Megan - You are so observant! I love the way the upper cabinets look now but hopefully they won't look too cluttered when I put all my stuff there.

Jenn - I'm in Los Angeles (and for privacy reasons I'd rather not post online exactly where I live!)

Wulan - Welcome and thanks for reading! It's so expensive to even rent an apartment in my city... we definitely can't afford to buy a house!

  20. Jenn - Thanks! The new kitchen is soooo much better than what we have now (ugly brown 30-year-old cabinets that they "renovated" by painting on some sticky clear gloss).

MsHark - I love HGTV but don't really know what our design 'style' is, but I think we tend to gravitate toward more modern spaces and decor.

  21. Ha ha, that's what our kitchen is like! The townhouse we rent is 30 years old, and they painted the cabinets...peach! Ew! But hey, it's functional, so I can't really complain. :)
