Allison Izu Piano Low Rider Jeans

A little while ago, a girl who never wins anything (aka yours truly) somehow amazingly won her first giveaway... and what a great time it was to get lucky!  Courtesy of PetiteLG and Allison Izu, I was soon the proud owner of my own pair of premium petite jeans, which came nicely wrapped in tissue with a quirky little card:

I chose the Piano Low Rider, mainly because it seems like the smallest running Allison Izu pair based on prior reviews.  And thanks to some good advice from PAG, I ended up going with the 00 size instead of the 000 because she thought it would be too small even for me.  And I have to say, it was a little hard to resist my knee-jerk instinct to get the smallest size available in anything... definitely a novel experience for me!

And here they are!  It's a boot-cut silhouette and I would say a medium-dark wash:

The waistband was lined with fun Hawaiian fabric and the tag was literally a wooden ruler!

This same pair was previously seen on Sydney, Jean, and Elle.  And here they are on me:

Sorry about the dark grainy pics... this was another failed attempt with the settings on my DSLR on loan.  Here's how they look with my regular camera:

The true color is probably somewhere in between.  I really like how there's no contrast stitching and the signature embroidery on the back pockets is tasteful and not flashy.  The overall fit is relatively good, and I can tell that there's a touch of stretch in the material.  The 31" inseam is sooo long on me though.  I was wearing my AT Porcini pumps with 3.5" heels and the hem was still dragging on the floor.  But they do seem to elongate my legs... although honestly I felt almost a little giraffe-y :)

Hopefully after a spin in the washer/dryer, they'll shrink a just tad and become perfect!  It does feel different to finally own a pair of grown-up jeans.  Thanks again to Sydney and Allison Izu for a great giveaway!

  1. those jeans look great on you....i like the length! they make your legs look really long. once you put it in the dryer, i'm sure they'll shrink in length. too bad you didn't get the 000! i was really curious to see how that was going to fit.

  2. Congrats on the win! That packaging is so nice! And that ruler, too cute! I love that Allison Izu puts so much thought and effort into the little details that make us feel special. :)

Great selection. I agree...the pockets are fun, but not over-the-top. I think the fit looks great at the waist...ooo might have produced the un-wanted muffin-top. And I completely understand about the shock of not ordering the smallest size possible! Lol!

  3. Congrats on winning the PLG giveaway! How exciting! They look great on you, and hopefully after a wash will take up in all the right places. The waist looks amazing though!

  5. These jeans look GREAT on you, like Ping I am curious how the 000 would have looked. I did not expect the 00 to fit you as well as it does since you are super tiny (I mean it in a positive way). I think Allison may benefit from offering a 29 inseam since girls 4'11-5'3 tall would probably find the 27 too short and the 31 too long. I don't even know if that's practical from a business perspective but the 31 is long even on Sydney, who is on the taller end of the petite spectrum. I digress but I really like these jeans on you. :)

ps your hair is amazing, it's completely black (unlike mine, which can look kind of yellow and frazzled). It's a waste that you don't do shampoo commercials.

  6. Your legs look a mile long in those pictures! I know exactly what you mean by instinctively ordering in the smallest size available. I'm realizing how tiny you girls actually are!
I have to agree with Elle that Allison Izu should offer a 29' inseam. The 31' inseams are usually readily available in petite sizing in big stores.
I have to give Allison Izu major props though, it seems she has really taken into consideration with the fit around the hips, thighs, rear for petites. Now just a smaller inseam...

  8. Ping - I'm also really curious how small the 000 really is and if I'd be able to squeeze into them. But since I could only get one, I decided to play it safe and err on the bigger side because like you said, the dryer can help shrink!

Elle - I also agree that a 29-30" inseam would be perfect for us shorter gals, and the 27" is probably too short for most. And gosh you made me blush with your hair comment! :) I was just thinking that I need to cut my straggly hair after seeing the back view. I'd always wanted to be one of those Asians with nice fine brownish hair (like my Mom) but somehow I ended up with thick coarse black hair... go figure :)

Banhannas - I know, I see pics of all the petite bloggers all the time but I don't realize how small we really look like to other people until I met Kelly from AN! And I'm also hoping Allison Izu will offer a new inseam length in between the two sometime in the future!

  9. They look great on you. After washed, they fit perfectly with no waist gap. I am glad those jeans work out well for you. Your AT pumps also go well with those jeans. Panio Low Rider is my favorite from her collection. They also fit me the best.

  10. These really do look like a great pair of jeans. I am interested in learning from everyone who has bought them if they shrink up or stretch out. My sister and I have a running joke if we buy jeans too tight to just sleep in them and they'll be perfect (actually, it's worked so far) LOl

  12. Congrats on winning the jeans! Really glad it was you (of course I would've been happy if I won too hahahaha).

The waist especially looks great and you don't look like a petite in those!

  14. I wish they were the same wash as the darker pictures.

I'm hoping that if you wash & dry them, they'll shrink just a bit more b/c then, I think it'll fit you a bit better. Something is still off IMO.

  15. These jeans fit you just beautifully. Hopefully with a run through the dryer cycle they'll shrink up perfectly.

  16. The jeans look great on you and as kileen says, hopefully they will shrink up some in the dryer to look even better.

  17. Wow those jeans make you look model-leggy! Congrats on the win!!

  18. I really hope they will shrink a smidge (and most of my jeans do in the dryer) because the butt area looks baggy. But the hips on the 000 were SO small they didn't go past my mid-thigh. I agree with you about the 31" inseam...there definitely should be something in between 29 and 31!

  19. Aubrey - I do wish they were a bit darker too, but luckily they aren't as blue as they looked in PAG's review, so I was happily surprised.

PAG - You have good eyes! It's true they are a bit baggy in the butt/thighs... but again hopefully they'll shrink up in the dryer :)

  20. The jeans look great, but a little bit baggy on you. Hopefully, it'll shrink after you put them in the washer/dryer!!!

  21. They look great on you but I think you could have gone down a size... oh well, I'm sure these will be great 'hanging out' comfy jeans if they don't shrink up enough!
