In The LOFT Fitting Room

Dear lovely readers, I'm terribly sorry I haven't been blogging much lately.  My work schedule this month (early morning shift) isn't agreeing with me and I feel perpetually tired.  I'm also on call this weekend, which is a 24-hr shift with no rest, so there's not even some weekend shopping to look forward to.  Lol... I really don't shop that much, honest!  That said, I do have a whole bunch of fitting room pics stored on my phone from prior shopping trips, which I wanted to share so I can finally delete them.  The first set is from my most frequented store... LOFT! :)

This first item is also my favorite!  I love the slinky feel of the blouse, and it drapes absolutely beautifully!  My store only carried this "Evening Sand" color, but it also comes in a "Teak Green" online.  The only issue I have with it is that it's quite sheer and usually would definitely need a cami.  But given the strategic front pocket placement, I think I can get away with a nude-colored bra.  Verdict: Want!

2.  Tiered Ruffle Shell in XXSP:

This one never caught my eye at first, but looks lovely on Kelly at AlterationsNeeded.  It doesn't hang quite right on my frame though, and I'm not crazy about the banded hem.  Verdict: Maybe if on super sale.

This one was obviously a fail.  Huge and shapeless and I'm not a big fan of the asymmetric ruffle.  My search for a white ruffle top continues.  Verdict:  Pass.

This is an older item and is no longer available online, and any remaining stock is probably on the clearance rack.  I actually quite liked it despite being initially wary of the stripes.  The material is a thick knit and is very comfortable.  I initially passed and was waiting for it to go on sale, but it seems to have sold out at my store.  Verdict:  Not available.

I like that the neckline and armholes fit, but the side view just wasn't very flattering on me.  I'm on the fence about the print as well.  On the upside, this is a good top to wear to a buffet since it can probably camouflage a post-binge tummy.  Verdict: Pass unless deeply discounted.

6.  Twist Pleat Shell in XXSP:

Last but not least, this is another great LOFT spring shell!  If I didn't already have the Abstract Print Shell from the last post, and this exact same style blouse in two solid colors (see here & here), I'd be all over this one!  Verdict: Must... control... self.

I have more pics from another store (can you guess which?), but will save it for part two.  Thanks for reading and have a happy St. Patrick's Day!  And also Happy Match Day to any med school readers out there!

  1. Absolutely adore that first shirt on you. Will be waiting for a sale. On the model, that color doesn't stand out at all (looks roomy and almost oversized?) but it looks tres elegant on you. The rest...meh...seems reminiscent of their items from past seasons. I think their silky-look blouses seem to be standouts this season with their delicate colors and slim fit, both this and the hidden placket shirt.

  2. I love the first blouse on you! It's so nice and I can't open a fashion mag without seeing that "The blouse is back!" I'm definitely going to check it out.
I tried on No. 3 and actually bought it in the pink, but as soon as I got home and re-tried it on, I couldn't believe it! The store mirrors got me or something, so now I have to go back. I just put that post up.

I think No. 5 looks really nice in the your photos, but I felt the same way in person when I tried that one on. It just seemed OK or off or something.

  8. I agree with everyone, my favorite is the first shirt. It's something we don't see that often. The rest of the items are OK. I hope your work schedule will be better soon. Take care!

  14. I really like that stripe blazer, especially with the red skirt you had on! Too bad it isn't available, maybe someone will do a return? Thanks for the many reviews! I gotta lot of picks to choose from, heehee.

  15. Like everyone else Liane, I'm loving the first and last shirt on you! ...And like Jess I'm so in love with that blue floral skirt!!! The striped jacket fits you beautifully as well.....the Loft will do a style search for you (if it's a must have item ;)

  16. I saw that first top in LOFT and totally passed it by because I just assumed it would fit roomy & unflattering. Proved me wrong!

Like Jess & Callandra...I'm also loving the blue skirt on you in these pics.

  17. Yikes about your work schedule but kudos on your work ethic! Thanks for the fitting room reviews despite it all. My favorites are your shopping outfit skirt, drapey blouse and striped jacket (I agree with Callandra about the LOFT style search - I think if you have a LOFT card you get free shipping). I do love the prints on both the Island Flower top (but agree about the poofy side view) and the Twist Pleat Shell. I'd probably pass on the Pleat Shell unless it was deeply discounted only because you already have the same shell in different colors. Hope you are surviving your weekend!

  19. Liane-- that 1st top is really nice. I wanna touch the material because it looks really soft.

lol-- thanks for your comments today! my beauty shots ...heehee...i feel embarrassed but my skin is not that great. it's all patched up with concealer and foundation. i'm a perpetual picker so i have become the master of hiding red marks and spots.

  20. @PetiteAsianGirl- I almost didn't even try it on in the store, but I'm glad I did! I do notice that LOFT does recycle past styles... first with the gray sweater dress, now with the twisted pleat/neck shell.

@Ski Petite I didn't even realize that the blouse was gone!

@kileen - I really like the style of the twist pleat shell... but at some point I have to tell myself enough is enough?

@Stylepint - Lol... thanks Jess! I love the skirt too after I got it back from the tailor. Fits perfectly and sits on my actual waist now.

  21. @Jarucha - Thanks Jarucha! I agree with you on both counts :)

@Aubrey - I'm glad the ruffle tank fits you... I might like it better if it fit me too! And trust me, my self control is tenuous at best :P

@Elle - Feels like it's been a while, doesn't it? Maybe we've just been too spoiled by crazy LOFT sales :)

@PetiteLittleGirl - Well supposedly the blouse is back so we might be seeing lots more variations!

  22. @theresa - Thanks theresa! Those were my favorites too :)

@Alan Li Yes, effortless is a nice way to describe it!

@Really Petite - I could've sworn that I spotted the last blouse on you! Must've been someone else then... hm...

@Amy Stewart - Thanks for stopping by Amy!

  23. @Banhannas - I actually really liked the way if feels on! It kind of hugs my body instead of hanging on like most of my clothes. I doubt I can manage to catch a return... but guess I go to LOFT often enough so who knows!

@Callandra - I've heard about style search, but not really sure how that works (do I call? or ask in store?). Not sure I love it enough to go through all that trouble either... but thanks for the tip :)

@Alterations Needed - I almost did the same! It IS roomy when worn loose, but drapes so nicely when tucked! As for the skirt, Marina worked her magic on that one! Just a $10 alteration and I totally love it after... must share the secret sometime soon! :)

@SewPetiteGal - Thanks for the tip on the free shipping... maybe that's what the SA meant when she told me to sign up for a LOFT card (I thought she meant free shipping on online orders, which is unfortunately so not true!)

@Ping - The material is polyester and the best word I can think of to describe it is slinky... but its smoothness helps it drape beautifully!

  24. Ah!! I love the first and last so much...and the second to last...on you! The tiered shell looks great tucked in, but I agree...annoying band! I hope you can get all those items on "super sale"!! :)

Can you believe I have not been in a LOFT since January?! Now I really want to go shopping there this weekend!!

  25. And I love the skirt you wore on your shopping trip. Gorgeous color on you!

  26. Guess what I found?!? The striped blazer in XXSP. It was $49.99 plus 40% off. I went ahead and bought it figuring someone in the petite community would want it. If you're interested, just let me know - it will be cost of item + cost of shipping.
