PFC #2 - Wear It Now, Wear It Later

It's time for another Petite Fashion Challenge!  This time it's being hosted by Kelly of AlterationsNeeded:

The Challenge:
In honor of the fast approaching cool fall weather, what better way to get ready than to find ways to make your wardrobe do double duty. Pick at least one item in your closet and create two outfits, one for spring/summer, and one for fall/winter.

The item I ended up choosing was this LOFT dress (aka my $8 dress!):

I probably shouldn't have had too much trouble with this one, but unfortunately true to my procrastinating nature I didn't get on it until practically the day of.  The result is therefore not incredibly creative, but I'll try to make up for it by showing several slightly different outfits :)  And here they are!

Spring - Summer:

Fall:

Fall - Winter:

Winter:

Dress: LOFT Cotton Dress, size XXSP (post)
Cardigan: LOFT V-Neck Long Cardigan, size XXSP (post)
Shell: LOFT Twisted Neck Shell, size XXSP (post)
Scarf: LOFT Floral Scarf (post)
Belt: Ann Taylor Skinny Woven Belt, size S
Boots: Uggs Kids Classic in Sand, size 6

I know I recycled the summer outfit, but nothing I tried looked as fresh as pairing it with the white cardigan.  As for the fall outfit, I was loving the unusual moss green of the top but felt like it was a little boxy especially when worn over the dress, so the addition of a skinny belt helped to define the waist.  For the fall-winter outfit, I busted out my uber comfortable Uggs, but unfortunately they somehow picked up quite a bit of dirt/dust during my move so please ignore the dirt streaks and the make-shift floor covering :)  For the winter outfit, I added brown over-the-knee socks (which I find more comfortable than tights but with the same look) and my yellow scarf for a bit of color.

I can't wait to see what everyone came up with for this challenge! :)

  1. I absolutely ADORE the winter outfit! I wish I could have that creativity to pair all of those items together... I love the tights with uggs and the long cardi! I might have to copy ;)

  2. Lol! I am cracking up over the "make-shift floor covering." I would have never thought of that fall-winter combo. That is so pretty! Very good idea to add the belt! You always wear your cardigans so well!

And $8 dress!? So nice! :)

  3. I love the fall transformation, but I probably wouldn't have used the boots. It just shortens your legs so much!! Us petites need more height, woman!!!

  4. I love your fall outfit, especially with the LOFT twisted shell. The color is so unusual but it really works with the dress. It's great to see how the dress transitions through the seasons! =)

  5. I too am cracking up over your makeshift floor covering. That loft top works so well over this dress! I agree with Jessy, I'd love to see sleeker boots with that dress. I'm an ugg fan myself but they do nothing for the petite figure.

  6. Agree about using Uggs, even though they are SO comfy! (I have the cheapo-but-awesome Target brand ones.) I love love LOVE the Winter look though, and the green color with the cardigan for Fall/Winter. Great job! :)

  8. Michelle - My makeshift floor covering is bubblewrap from a recent package :)

Jessy, PAG & MoneyMaus - I would've worn nice boots if I had them! Uggs are ugly but they're sooo comfy that I forgive them lol... plus they're really toasty since I always have cold feet :P

  9. Great job turning that summery dress into an item for all season. I know I picked a darkish color because it's easier to transform. I really like the last look and those uggs look incredibly comfortable. (re: second to last look...are those your newish LOFT cardigans? They look so comfortable)

  11. I like your Fall outfit and how you worn your dress as a skirt. It's very interesting to see how different winter outfits from west coast compared to east coast. You probably never are going to wear black tights in SoCal even during Winter

  12. My favorite by far has got to be the outfit where you transformed your dress into a skirt! I really adore the colors as well. I am a little squeamish with Uggs BUT I actually like it with the bulky scarf and it does look very wintery. =0D

  13. Wow i think you did an excellent job even though you said it was the last minute deal. Love your spring and winter looks especially the last pic with boots. So adorable!

  14. Your first fall outfit is my favorite! The acid-moss green goes very well with the cream and taupe of the dress and cardigan. And it's awesome that the top over the dress isn't bulky at all. )

  15. I think the ways you styled this dress are great, I would never think to put that LOFT top over the dress and it looks great. I agree about the UGGs...I have a few pairs too and wear them even though they are not too attractive haha. I think the fall/winter outfit with leather boots would make you look so tall and fab!

  16. I love the way you wore the Loft green top over the dress, too! Thanks for the inspiration. I will have to try that sometime. I'm definitely liking the first fall/winter outfit. Always vote for comfy boots :).

  18. I have to say my favorite is the moss green twisted neck shell over the dress with the v-neck cardigan over it. Fantastic combo. (not to say I happen to own both items. hehe)

  20. I love your creativity, layering the shell and cardigan over the dress! Never would have thought to do that but I'm definitely going to have to try that with some of my favorite summer dresses this fall. Thanks for the inspiration!
