I've been studying night and day for weeks to prepare for a board licensing exam, and finally got it over with today. Yay for freedom! And although I was supposed to be studying during Labor Day weekend, I made a quick trip to the mall anyway to pick up this LOFT Ruffle Trim Wrap dress that I'd tried on earlier and was now on sale for $30:
Luckily there was still one left in 00P! And while I thought that was a pretty good deal, I also found something else that's probably my best bargain buy to date... this cotton dress in 00P:
It's no longer online so I'm not sure what it was called, but was originally $80, on final sale for $14, and with the additional 40% off it came out to a grand total of $8!! The dress is nice and fully-lined. The straps are a little long and will need to be taken up a bit, but no biggie... did I mention it's $8?? :)
On impulse, I also grabbed the Flutter Silk Dress in 00P, on sale from $128 down to $48:
And while Vicky loves it and it looks great on her, this shade of red doesn't look the best on my skin tone and I have some small issues with the fit. Nothing major but I'm not in love with it, so I think I'm probably going to return.
Right across from the LOFT store at my local mall is an Abercrombie outlet store which was advertising an extra BOGO 50% off so I took a quick look... and walked out with these in size XS:
The print is really lovely in person, and the blue is actually more navy than in the picture. The skirts are soft, lined, are a good length, and came out to ~$15 each. Although they were definitely an impulse buy, I think I'm going to keep them! Will try to show them in an outfit in the next post.
It seemed like this Labor Day was rather disappointing for a lot of people, but there are still good sales to be had! I believe LOFT is continuing their 40% off sale items promotion online and in-store, and Ann Taylor is offering 40% off 3 or more full-price items with free shipping on $150+ (code ANNSTYLE or SEPTCC). Finally I can re-order this ruffle blouse I've been waiting patiently for since this post... and probably a few more goodies as well! :P
I didn't have much luck over Labor Day, but that's good because I'm on a shopping ban! Anyways, it looks like you found a couple of good items. How does the LOFT dresses fit? It seems like it tends to be loose like the BR dresses.
ReplyDeleteGosh I don't know how you guys find such good deals! Over Labor Day, the only shop I went in was AT, and there were only a couple lousy sale items (and by on sale I mean like reduced from $80 to $50-60 and all hideous looking).
ReplyDeleteThat last skirt is so pretty! I think you can tell by now I like pastels and soft color mixes. They fit you well and are a good length on your legs. I always find plenty of things I like when I go in A&F!
Nice find on the $8 dress! Is the white cardigan you paired it with a LOFT piece as well? And thanks for the mentioning the ruffle blouse and AT codes! I'll be in for one as soon as I can figure out how to reach the $150+ mark. :)
ReplyDeleteI like that last skirt (left) the most. I really love the print!
ReplyDeletestylepint - You still go shopping while on a shopping ban? That seems like unnecessary torture :P And yes, I find that like their jackets and skirts, the LOFT dresses in 00P fit a bit loose too just like the BR dresses. Usually only the really tight-fitting one or ones with adjustable ties or smocking will fit me.
ReplyDeletesophia - AT is usually too expensive for me too... I can only afford things on super sale or with really good coupons! A&F things have the potential to fit, but their styles are usually a little too trendy or preppy or something... and I always have to find things that don't have such a conspicuous moose logo.
R.L. - The white cardigan is also from LOFT (see earlier post) which I now own in 3 colors!
kali - I love it too! That's the one they had displayed out front that caught my eye and lured me into the store lol... the navy one was just because it was a BOGO deal.
That $8 dress is a great find! I do think the red dress should be returned...the fit seems a little odd to me and I think a darker red would look better on you. I love those A&F skirts, definitely envious that an outlet store is so close to you!
ReplyDeleteOh wow...A&F throwback. I'm glad you snagged the black ruffle...I liked it on you! I also agree the red looked better on VIcky so no loss by not getting it.
ReplyDeleteJust ordered the ruffle top you showcased in leopard...I'm scared - haven't worn anything that daring to work yet!
Wow I love the first dress on you! I saw that on the site and was hoping someone would post it. And $8?!? That's an amazing deal!
ReplyDeleteYay, the ruffle dress it is so cute on you! It did hit me at a shorter length on the 00p so I sized up. I have to agree with Miss Elle that the red dress is not really a favorite. However, I do like the discreet "tuck" you placed around the waist. I wonder what it will look like with a belt?
ReplyDeleteMmmm, my favorite red dress is getting returned. :( I think the red looks great on you. I think our skin tone is very similar, at least from the picture. I do notice the fit problem on you though. By looking at it more, I realized that the problem might be due to the fact that you have shorter torso and longer legs than me. That's why the elastics doesn't sit on your waist right.
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you were able to get the wrapped dress! I remember how much you liked it when you first reviewed it. The price was awesome for a such a nice dress. The second dress goes with your skintone very well :).
ReplyDeleteI think the red dress looks fine w/your skin tone. I actually prefer red on lighter skin gals w/brunette hair (i.e. Snow white). hahah. Too bad it didn't fit well; did you try it w/a belt like they do in the store? I'm hoping to find that red dress as a season finale sale. I got a silk dress from LOFT last season for $10 (orig $90-ish) from their end of season sale.
ReplyDeletei spy some successful loft steals! i can't believe you found some babies left in 00P! i really love that cotton dress with the white cardigan over it and CONGRATS on being done with board exam :D
ReplyDeleteElle - I didn't even realize it was an outlet store for the longest time! My local mall is kind of an odd mixture of stores. No BR/Gap but Anthropologie and White House Black Market!
ReplyDeleteHanna - I did try it with a belt, but the problem is that if I don't "tuck" it like the 2nd pic (which shortens the length), it still looks too long and proportions are kinda off. And I'm curious to see how the wrap dress fits on you... pics soon? :)
Vicky - I think you're right... the elastic part is just too long-waisted on me. It looks much better tucked like in the 2nd pic, but of course it won't stay like that for long if I move around. I really gave it a lot of thought, since it's a great price for a silk dress, but in the end is too fussy for me :\
Aubrey - I love true red but not so much orangy-reds... makes me look yellow/sallow. Did try it with belt but didn't look right on me still. What an awesome deal you got on a silk dress!! And here I was so excited about my $8 cotton dress :P
Angie - It's rare! I'm glad I have a LOFT near me, but usually their sale section is pretty sparse, especially in petites. And thanks! I just hope I passed the darn thing... otherwise I might have to quit residency altogether! :P
I love that ruffle dress on you! It looks so chic :) Great job on snagging the $8 dress and the adorable floral A&F skirt - can't wait to see what you pair with the skirt!
ReplyDeleteLove those dresses on you - what great deals!
ReplyDeleteWow!,$8, What a deal you got for the cotton dress. The red looks pretty on you too. Just a little loose I think.
ReplyDeleteYour local mall definitely sounds different...I wish we had an Anthropologie store and an A&F outlet in place of the BR/Gap stores that I don't particularly enjoy.
ReplyDeleteYou got great deals! Labor day shopping sucked for me. I tried on that khaki/white dress and it looked so funny on me. You look great in it!
