Vacation Plans: Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas!

It's been almost six months since my last vacation, and I'm in desperate need of a break!  I'll finally get one in 3 more weeks, and we've just decided to go to Vegas!  We're going to head back to our absolute favorite Vegas hotel, the Mandarin Oriental. We stayed there when they first opened and had a stay one night, get one night free promotion... which turned out to be the deal of a lifetime because we got upgraded from a regular room to this really nice suite for free:

It was huge!  And even had a separate living room:

The bedroom had a nice fluffy bed and remote-controlled black-out drapes which were perfect for sleeping in!

My favorite part of the suite, though, was this absolutely divine free-standing soaking tub:

I swear I took three baths a day when I was there!  I also loved their Bvlgari White Tea toiletries, and when we asked housekeeping for more conditioner, this is what we found in our bathroom when she left!

Thanks to our travel agent, we also got some bonus perks including daily $100 credit for in-room breakfast service.  Breakfast items weren't too expensive, so we were able to order plenty and woke up to a free brunch feast everyday!

Hubby liked the Kobe steak and fries:

While my favorite was the crab cakes with poached eggs and Hollandaise sauce:

For $100 credit, we could get the above AND each get something else like pancakes on the side:

And because it's an Asian themed hotel, they also had things like wonton soup and congee for breakfast!

But that's not all!  The perks also included $100 in spa credit, which I happily used to indulge :)

So for the grand total of $300 for that trip, we got 2 nights in a upgraded suite, $200 of food credit, and $100 of spa credit!  And it wasn't just the incredible bargain, their service was amazing as well, and we also loved that it's a non-smoking, non-casino hotel so we didn't have to breathe the usual filthy Vegas casino air.

This time, the deal isn't as good... we still get those daily food and spa credit, but we have to stay 2 nights to get 1 night free.  Hopefully our travel agent can still get us an upgrade to a suite, but it's pending availability.  But another unexpected surprise of this trip is that we'll be able to go see the Jabbawockeez perform live!  Hubby and I have really liked them ever since we saw them win the first season of MTV's America's Best Dance Crew.  Here's how awesome their very first performance on the show was:

I love that hubby watches the most random shows with me (even Project Runway) hahaha.  But seriously, the Jabbawockeez are amazing to watch and we're really excited to see them perform live.  I can't wait for vacation already... just a few more weeks to go! :)

  1. Wow. That hotel is amazing and the perks are great! I've never travelled to Vegas and would love to go someday! But did your trip cost $300 or $3000? Did you make a typo by any chance?

  2. Nope it wasn't a typo!! $300 was the nightly rate for a regular room (and it was buy one get one night free), and all those perks were free! :)

  4. OMG the suite, the food, and the service you received were all amazing! I would never wanna leave. $300 is too good to be true. I know that when you book a last minute getaway with an agency, your chance of scoring something that great is even better!! I went to Cancun, Mexico with my family back in April for like $200ish each, including the flight and an all-you-can-eat resort!! We stayed for 2 or 3 nights, I believe.

I hope you have fun on your trip and take lots of photos!! I'm so jealous you get to see the Jabbawockeez. I loved them ever since I saw them on ABDC. <333 They're amazing.

Btw, that video was pretty amazing -- so lucky you got to see it in person!

I think I need a vacation to Vegas now too... :)

There is a LOFT very close to your hotel! :p Let me know if you have any time to do a quick meet up at the mall! That would be fun...although, I do not want to take away from your vacation time!

  13. I looove Mandarin Oriental!! I stayed there in Tokyo with some kind of deal that I can't remember. Like you, I totally felt I was robbing them with that and the restaurant credit. The room design was amazing, the view was breathtaking, the bathroom was absolutely divine. And oh my god the service... just impeccable to the last detail. Thanks for the post, I felt like I was reliving the experience. ;)

  17. Wow the photos you took were amazing! I thought they were stock photos at first! I'm from Las Vegas (currently a Southern transplant now) so I've never had the luxury of staying in a Vegas hotel room but your post makes me want to check out this hotel which is usually overshadowed by all the big names. Enjoy your much needed R&R! And be sure to check out the outlets there if you get a chance. Premium, Town Square, etc... Vegas has great shopping options :)

  18. Wow, luxurious indeed! Like Whitney mentioned, I would think it would be close to $3,000 instead of just $300! I hope you guys do get a free upgrade to a suite, it looks absolutely magical. You deserve a vacation!

  20. I've been to vegas so many times; I wonder why I've never heard of Mandarin Oriental. I've only heard of Imperial Palace. hhaha. We all know that is not a 5 star hotel. Mandarin Oriental looks amazing though. I can't believe they serve BVLGARI toiletries. I <3 bvlgari anythg.

  24. The Little Dust Princess - Aren't they awesome?? We love Quest crew too, but no one beats the original crew that set the bar so high for the remaining seasons!

kileen - To be honest, the congee wasn't the greatest haha, but it's cool that they offer it.

Angie - Yay for Thanksgiving in Cali! I normally only get the Thursday off for Thanksgiving, so it's a good thing I live close to family already!

mello yellow jen & michLA - Thanks guys! Got my fingers crossed too and maybe I should find a countdown widget to post on my sidebar :P

Michelle - LOL!! I should've known you'd be the one to know where the closest LOFT is to everything :P It'd be funny if we met in LOFT all dressed in LOFT lol... it'd be a spectacle for sure!

hugstiem - I've heard about MO elsewhere, but have only stayed at their LV location... glad to know that their other locations are amazing as well!

R.L - Thanks for the tip about shopping! Maybe after I'm nice and relaxed from all the baths I'll be taking, I'll check out those outlets! And some of the photos are stock, but most are my own :)

Banhannas - It really was the deal of a lifetime! But unfortunately now we're spoiled because we'll never able to find something so nice for so cheap again!

Aubrey - I haven't heard of Imperial Palace (maybe that's a good thing lol), but Mandarin Oriental just opened less than a year ago I think. It's in the City Center cluster with Aria & Vdara. I love the Bvlgari white tea conditioner, it makes my hair feel amazing (but it's discontinued or something because I can't find it anywhere).

Cee - Yup the pictures were from my last trip, and definitely email me if you're going so you can get the food/spa credit! It's a free service and doesn't cost anything.

  25. So exciting! That food looks absolutely scrumptious (and makes me rather hungry even though I ate dinner not too long ago LOL). Hubby and I love Vegas too - one of fave restaurants is Grand Wok and Sushi Bar at MGM Grand (lots of wok hei or wok qi depending on Cantonese/Chinese).

  28. SewPetiteGal - Thanks for the recommendation! We really like this noodles/dumpling place in Bellagio and always go when we're in Vegas (can't recall the name at the moment).

sophia - Haha maybe one day when you're rich and famous you can hire someone to turn down your bed every night :P

jlovesBal - Yup... my ideal vacation is full of pampering and yummy food! :)
