I cheated a little and started out with a striped tee (but forgot to take a plain "before" picture, sorry!)
Jeans: A&F Kids Maddy Skinny, size 12
Necklace: Charlotte Russe (similar)
I'm terrible at remembering to accessorize but am trying to improve... and here I added a newly-acquired long drapey chain necklace to balance out the boatneck of the top. The attached flower on this surprisingly inexpensive necklace makes it almost like two accessories in one!
And since I easily get cold, I almost never leave the house without some sort of cardigan or jacket. I decided to add a spring-appropriate blazer on top. I usually prefer my blazer sleeves scrunched up, and here I thought that the effect of the striped sleeves peeking out underneath kind of gives the idea of a striped jacket... but without the commitment!
I love that the flower on the necklace serves double duty as a faux flower pin on the blazer too! Please forgive the feet-less pics... I had on flats but they were a baaad idea. I was going to change to pumps at the time for a lil' more sophistication, but hubby came home with dinner and I was starving so that was the end of my photoshoot.
Not the most creative effort I have to say, and the attempt ended prematurely before I could try again with different shoes, a belt, etc. due to an unexpected injury. But at least it is a casual look that I can wear without feeling like I'm trying too hard. Don't forget to check out lots of other outfits from this Petite Fashion Challenge here!

ReplyDeleteLol!!! I also got a caramel wound (maybe seven years ago) from making flan!! I had a really stupid moment...I was boiling down the sugar and decided to test it by sticking my finger in it!!! I still cannot believe I did that! We had dinner plans that night, so I sat there throughout with my hand cupped around ice water!
ReplyDeleteAnd...I almost used that same exact striped tee for this challenge!! Had I not made my recent crochet top purchase, I would have used that shirt!
That necklace is gorgeous! You look amazing with it all pulled together. I like the stripes with that color jacket...very similar idea to Kelly's recent commitment-less stripes under jacket!

I have that same tee! But I could only find it in XSP so it's luck you found the xxsp. :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe try wearing the necklace on the outside of the collar of your jacket. It might look more like a pin and do something interesting near the bottom.

ReplyDeleteI love the 2-in-1 flower necklace. I don't think I've been inside Charlotte Russe since I was a teen, but I will definitely stop by for this necklace!
ReplyDeleteAnd were the flats you were wearing the TB Revas? I really want to buy a pair of snakeskin ones but the stories I hear about how uncomfortable they are and how long it takes to break them in... combined with the $100+ price tag makes me weary.
P.S. I hope the finger is feeling better and that the husband enjoyed his flan!

Terrific job (and in spite of your injuries, extra points), I love that necklace, it gives the outfit something really interesting and unique. I love the gray and beige tones of the outfit too! :)
ReplyDeleteWhere is that blazer from? It fits you so nicely. The stripes peeking out from the sleeves and at the length of the blazer is cute! Especially like how the flower is adorned right where it should be without any fuss in placing it there in the first place.
