Armani Exchange Linen Shorts

AN recently reviewed some Armani Exhange shorts, and they were too large on her, which meant that they'd definitely be to big on me.  But on a whim,  I decided to order the A|X Rolled Linen Shorts in p0:

And here's how they turned out:

The fit is almost there... it has an elastic waist which helps a little, but it's still slightly too loose.  So when I tucked my top in, it starts coming loose (see wrinkly 2nd picture) as soon as I make any movements.

Also, the leg openings are too wide, so from the front the shorts flare out somewhat at my hips.  Here's a close up:

They also come in another color (Moonlight), which I sort of like because it's more unusual:

But for some reason, the waistband on this pair is even more loose, and it noticeably gaps:

They're on sale for $29, so originally I was considering keeping a pair just so I have at least ONE pair of shorts for the summer... but now I keep thinking that the fit is going to keep bugging me because it's one of those things that's almost but not quite good enough.

  2. I like the second one's color, a lot! But if doesn't fit, I think you should just return it. I have had several of those items that are "almost fitting" but ended up in the bottom of my suitcase. :)

  3. I find that if something bugs me about it then I'm never satisfied and I tend to leave it untouched in my closet. :[

I think you should hold off until you find something better... that $29 could contribute to a pair of shorts that fit you PERFECTLY! :D

  4. I like the color of the 2nd one too, but I vote no keep on both. The fit is just big on you! I know I've recommended H&M sz 2 before...maybe you should pop back and check out the selection! All three pairs of my shorts are from there (in black, white, and taupe).

  5. Love the linen, but if it doesn't fit, you shouldn't keep it. For me, I know I'd never wear it if the fit doesn't look right. Besides, you can get better shorts at other places. I'd go for kid's sizes because the fit is better and as long as it doesn't look too childish...nobody will ever know! =)

  6. i like the second one's colour but unfortunately it doesn't fit. armani for $29 is a great deal though. you should probably return because if you don't love it now, you probably won't wear it again :P

  8. I like both color and style very much. But I think it's just a little too loose on you. I found out one pair from Esprit, maybe you can check out. The price is good too, extra 40% of $34.99. Good luck!

  9. great deals on some very cute shorts! i like both colors. since they're linen, perhaps u can shrink em down in the washer & dryer. only concern is that they might get shorter than u prefer. :/

  10. Thanks for the tip on pearl size. I tried on some pearls at Ann Taylor over the weekend, but they were just too big. The bf said I reminded him of Wilma Flintstone with them on lol.

I picked up some shorts from Express yesterday.

Those and a bunch more are 40% off now. I got them in 00 and they fit perfectly. So if you're smaller than me, they may be too big. (They sit right above my hip bone and measure 30 inches.) I think it's worth trying though!

  11. I agree with the "no keep" for both shorts. The A|X cut for shorts is a bit odd from what I can see. They flare out and it seems like there is extra/unnecessary fabric at crouch area like in AN's post. Based on the pictures the quality (even in the stock photo) doesn't look like it should be worth $29.

  12. the shorts are cute but they are definitely too big and unflattering :( even if you want at least one pair of shorts. Keep looking around and you might find a similar pair that fits better, but from my experience I find that most linen pants / shorts run larger

  13. Thanks guys for the helpful (and honest) opinions. I was leaning towards returning them anyway, and it actually really helps to see that everyone agrees with me.

  14. Awww sorry those didn't work out! Must be so frustrating shopping for a certain style AND size! Hope you can find similar shorts that fit elsewhere! I have some bottoms that are too large, and I just use a belt and notch it REALLY tight, and wear a loose top over to cover up the scrunching it causes around the crotch area.
