Is it just me or has Banana Republic been emailing out 40% off coupons every week? I'm not complaining... but they need to update their current collection already! Anyway, there wasn't a lot that interested me, but I used one of those coupons to order this Short Crinkle Trench in XSP:
I honestly wasn't really expecting too much, and I'm not really sure how I feel about it. Here's how it looks in various stages of belting:
My initial reaction was a probable no. The material is rather stiff, almost paper-mache like, and I don't like the fact that it's not lined. The fit is so-so, not terrible but not great. The belt actually falls a little below my natural waist. The sleeves are too long as always, but that's not a big deal. Here's the side view, unbelted:
The total came out to about ~$75, which is not bad, but I'm just not excited about it for some reason. My search for the perfect light trench continues...
It's a cute coat but it's so big on you! Did they sell out of the XXSP? The color I am suspect about maybe getting dirty too easily? BR definitely needs to get new stuff in....Great post!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLol, at first glance I thought the BR model was you. Not to racial sterotype or anything, but you guys have the same fine, long black hair : )
ReplyDeleteStrike three is right...I really hope you find the perfect trench soon! To me, this BR one is the snooze-iest out of all the ones you tried on. The waist seems out of place and the sleeves seem so long for petites sizing. And I don't know why they don't make outerwear in XXS P!
It looks ok belted, but that's about it, which won't make it very versatile. I also wish BR would make outerwear in xxsp. Their stuff is just one size out of reach, which makes it such a tease!
ReplyDeleteI found a really small trench jacket at United Colors of Benetton last year, but I haven't been in there in a while to see if they still have tiny jackets. Might be worth a look.
I didn't realize BR simply doesn't make outerwear in XXSP... but no wonder!!
ReplyDeletePAG - That's funny... I wish I was that cute lol. But racial stereotyping aside, it's a nice change for BR to use an Asian model (and she's rather obviously Korean which is another thing I don't see often).
AN - I've never shopped there before... might have to look into it if I want to find my trench!
This looks cute belted! And I also like it left open, with a dress inside. I personally only like to wear trenches with dresses and heels. Trenches can be so difficult, especially if they're too long, but this one at least is on the shorter side. Hmm I can't think of a trench made by a brand as good as BR, but sometimes the teenage stores like Charlotte Russe etc. make better fitting clothing for small sizes.
ReplyDeletei like how it looks belted! and the color is nice, too. :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your trench search. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog. I'm a new follower.
I hope, it's OK
