I've received multiple emails, tweets, and comments inquiring about my well-being, and every single one honestly makes me feel so touched... so a warm and appreciative thanks to all those who wrote to or thought of me.</div><div style="margin: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="margin: 0px;">Basically, this happened...</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_Ox2CTtJReZRw87o1UpnfMGx3GgjrOwlHputbAfkqxxNKKNXjMBwFdupHMVM2gdwxcF5lBxerPvn9cZRaeLWWzfBe5J3xsg5ks_uwSauH4ZrlJD2sqZlOYTYOMl6PWNA_FRhVS_xnNG4/s1600/20110703215027671.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="375" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_Ox2CTtJReZRw87o1UpnfMGx3GgjrOwlHputbAfkqxxNKKNXjMBwFdupHMVM2gdwxcF5lBxerPvn9cZRaeLWWzfBe5J3xsg5ks_uwSauH4ZrlJD2sqZlOYTYOMl6PWNA_FRhVS_xnNG4/s400/20110703215027671.jpg" width="500" /></a></div><div style="margin: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin: 0px;">And I found myself suffering from terrible morning sickness which left me no will to do anything but sprawl on the couch and try not to throw up. Fortunately that eased up in my second trimester, but now I'm insanely busy studying for my board exam, working on another resident lecture, and applying for fellowship all at the same time. Hence no time for some blog love... not to mention I've been on the longest unintentional shopping break ever since I didn't want to buy new clothes that I may or may not fit into post-pregnancy.</div><div style="margin: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin: 0px;">I actually haven't had to purchase a single maternity item yet despite being 23 weeks pregnant. I still fit in my scrubs for work and have been doing okay with my current wardrobe otherwise (which goes to show how ill-fitting my clothes were to begin with). For example, the LOFT top I wore for the <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/08/pfc-1-do-petite-dont.html">first PFC</a> can still comfortably accommodate my 6-month pregnant belly:<br />

</div></div><div style="margin: 0px; text-align: left;">In fact, I can still fit into almost all my tops. And as for bottoms, my lifesaver has been the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=30834172&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Bellyband</a> - a somewhat magical contraption that allows me to wear a lot of my existing pants and skirts, albeit unbuttoned but without fear of indecent exposure.</div><div style="margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="margin: 0px; text-align: center;"></div><div style="margin: 0px; text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: left;">In any case, I just wanted to finally post an update to let you guys know that I am indeed still alive. But between residency and pregnancy, there already isn't enough hours in the day and sadly blogging has to be put on a hiatus for now. But I'll leave you with a quick 10-sec peek at my 'lil bun in the oven... I've been scanning myself when I get a chance (free access to ultrasound is one of the few perks of being a radiology resident), and happened to catch the little one in a fit of hiccups!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

The answer to the question everyone always wants to know (boy vs. girl) is at the end of the video :)</div></div></div>PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com64tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-23276030314020217612011-04-04T08:22:00.000-07:002011-04-04T08:41:17.202-07:0025 Ways To Wear A ScarfIf you haven't seen this video by <a href="http://www.youtube.com/wendyslookbook">Wendy's Lookbook</a> yet, you must! It's hands down THE best scarf how-to video I've seen so far. Besides being incredibly useful (I didn't know you <i>could</i> tie a scarf 25 different ways) and soo well-edited, it's just plain fun to watch!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><iframe allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="353" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/5LYAEz777AU" title="YouTube video player" width="580"></iframe></div><br />
<br />
Wendy is also a fellow petite, standing at around ~5 ft tall I think. Check out her other videos like <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHTNldZ9z4c">How To Walk In Heels</a>, as well as a series of What To Wear With... videos including <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPvge8Eiq_0">Brown Suede Boots</a>, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1xML7tZsym8">Faux Fur Vest</a>, and so on. One thing for sure, if she continues to make more videos like the scarf one, I'll definitely be watching!PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com30tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-74212114604991812102011-03-28T19:50:00.000-07:002011-04-03T02:35:18.778-07:00Battle Of The BootiesI never used to understand the appeal of booties on petites... they either cut off the leg line or have to be worn with matching tights, thus limiting their versatility. But just like how I initially felt about skinny jeans, my feelings toward booties have been slowly changing. I still don't currently own a single pair of booties, but have been more open-minded about adding them to my shoe collection. I picked up a few pairs of Ann Taylor shoes a while back when they were having their big shoe sale, and finally got around to taking some pics!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">The first pair is the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=219728002&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Lily Lace-up Canvas Peep Toe Bootie</a> in size 5.5:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5061/5570089744_aeebc31be0_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5061/5570089744_aeebc31be0_z.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And the second pair is the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=189958172&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Lace Bootie</a> in size 5.5:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5023/5569503831_5f412ed4b4_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5023/5569503831_5f412ed4b4_z.jpg" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><br />
</div></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"> Here's how they look on the feet:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5013/5570089650_78ce550634.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5013/5570089650_78ce550634.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5135/5569503625_e379eb7064.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5135/5569503625_e379eb7064.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Please ignore the hot pink nail polish. I recently tried on my little sister's polish but was too lazy to wipe off even though it's a little loud for my taste.<br />
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">Another close-up:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5143/5569503463_cdc6a56f0e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5143/5569503463_cdc6a56f0e.jpg" style="cursor: move;" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5139/5570089520_48dbb485b4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5139/5570089520_48dbb485b4.jpg" style="cursor: move;" /></a></div><br />
The lace bootie was absolutely gorgeous online (see <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2011/02/ann-taylor-40-stackable-20-off-sale.html">post</a>), but got a thumbs down from both hubby and my Mom in person. The appearance is hard to describe, but almost looks like lace-printed nude fabric more than anything (I'm not sure what else I was expecting I suppose). The nude/lace part is rather crinkly and noticeably doesn't match my skin tone. But I do like the unique lace design and since it's black, it could potentially go with more outfits and can also be worn with tights.<br />
<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">While they both have a 4.25" heel (with a small hidden platform in front), the canvas peep toe pair is a little more comfortable whereas the lace pair digs into my ankle a bit. And while I do like the neutral color of the canvas pair, it seems strictly a spring/summer shoe because of the peep toe, and is also a little pricey at $103. Styling it is another issue, although it's pretty cute on <a href="http://www.thechloeconspiracy.com/2011/02/in-review-ann-taylors-antique-lace.html">Chloe</a> and here are some more ideas from Ann Taylor: </div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://i52.tinypic.com/2zok9ed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i52.tinypic.com/2zok9ed.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="172" /></a><a href="http://i53.tinypic.com/166f7n4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i53.tinypic.com/166f7n4.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="172" /></a><a href="http://i52.tinypic.com/5mn5mo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://i52.tinypic.com/5mn5mo.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="172" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
One last look to compare the two:</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5104/5569503969_ce6f02ceb8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="366" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5104/5569503969_ce6f02ceb8.jpg" width="275" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5139/5570089924_db138fae4e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="366" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5139/5570089924_db138fae4e.jpg" width="275" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><div style="text-align: center;">So which would you keep? <b>Jeans</b>: A&F Kids <a href="http://www.abercrombiekids.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10101&catalogId=10851&productId=558385&langId=-1&categoryId=50464">Maddy Skinny</a>, size 12 <br />
<b>Necklace</b>: Charlotte Russe (<a href="http://www.charlotterusse.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11152253">similar</a>)<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">I'm terrible at remembering to accessorize but am trying to improve... and here I added a newly-acquired long drapey chain necklace to balance out the boatneck of the top. The attached flower on this surprisingly inexpensive necklace makes it almost like two accessories in one!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5066/5557535516_9f0317fc2f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5066/5557535516_9f0317fc2f.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5100/5556950291_541b340bf3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5100/5556950291_541b340bf3.jpg" width="195" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And since I easily get cold, I almost never leave the house without some sort of cardigan or jacket. I decided to add a spring-appropriate blazer on top. I usually prefer my blazer sleeves scrunched up, and here I thought that the effect of the striped sleeves peeking out underneath kind of gives the idea of a striped jacket... but without the commitment! </div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5297/5557535656_a63ecb14db_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5297/5557535656_a63ecb14db_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5029/5556950603_2b03e8d763_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5029/5556950603_2b03e8d763_z.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I love that the flower on the necklace serves double duty as a faux flower pin on the blazer too! Please forgive the feet-less pics... I had on flats but they were a baaad idea. I was going to change to pumps at the time for a lil' more sophistication, but hubby came home with dinner and I was starving so that was the end of my photoshoot.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Not the most creative effort I have to say, and the attempt ended prematurely before I could try again with different shoes, a belt, etc. due to an unexpected <a href="http://yfrog.com/gyxxyucj">injury</a>. But at least it is a casual look that I can wear without feeling like I'm trying too hard. Like always, the pickings are slim (but what can I say, I'm a creature of habit). Since most items were a fail, I included stock photos so you can at least see what they're <i>supposed</i> to look like. Here goes!</div></div><div style="margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">I almost ordered this online in the <a href="http://i53.tinypic.com/20ux4kw.png">print version</a> to try, but I'm glad I didn't because it doesn't fit! Was just large overall including an odd poofing above the waistband in the back. It's also a bit see-through, but also comes in black which I can see looking nice on someone a size bigger and larger-busted than me. <b>Verdict</b>: Pass.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

<div style="text-align: left;">Finally something with a little bit more potential! I initially thought no on this one... was roomy as you can tell, and I didn't know how I'd style something with such voluminous bottom ruffles like this. But when I threw a cardigan on (see below), I actually started to like it! The 100% silk material makes for very nicely draped ruffles. It's definitely not for bottom-heavy body types, but is great for anyone looking to create hips (or disguise a flat rear like me). <b>Verdict</b>: Want, but likely wait for sale.</div></div><br />

My work schedule this month (early morning shift) isn't agreeing with me and I feel perpetually tired. I'm also on call this weekend, which is a 24-hr shift with no rest, so there's not even some weekend shopping to look forward to. Lol... I really don't shop that much, honest! That said, I do have a whole bunch of fitting room pics stored on my phone from prior shopping trips, which I wanted to share so I can finally delete them. The first set is from my most frequented store... LOFT! :)<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">1. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=226396414&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Roll Sleeve Drapey Shirt</a> in XXSP:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5055/5536353364_9747f14979.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5055/5536353364_9747f14979.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5132/5535775711_acf5e21a44.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5132/5535775711_acf5e21a44.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;">This first item is also my favorite! I love the slinky feel of the blouse, and it drapes absolutely beautifully! My store only carried this "Evening Sand" color, but it also comes in a "Teak Green" online. The only issue I have with it is that it's quite sheer and usually would definitely need a cami. But given the strategic front pocket placement, I think I can get away with a nude-colored bra. <b>Verdict</b>: Want!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><br />
2. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=216743054&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Tiered Ruffle Shell</a> in XXSP:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5172/5535775561_94c8fd65a0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5172/5535775561_94c8fd65a0.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5172/5536353272_e3d302cb8e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5172/5536353272_e3d302cb8e.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />
</div>This one never caught my eye at first, but looks lovely on Kelly at <a href="http://www.alterationsneeded.com/2011/03/review-ann-taylor-loft-petite-tiered.html">AlterationsNeeded</a>. It doesn't hang quite right on my frame though, and I'm not crazy about the banded hem. <b>Verdict</b>: Maybe if on super sale.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
3. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=226862010&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Pleated Ruffle Button Down Top</a> in XXSP:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5214/5536353182_4d9f63f123.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5214/5536353182_4d9f63f123.jpg" width="258" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5218/5536353224_bef0ed9455.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5218/5536353224_bef0ed9455.jpg" width="195" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
<div style="text-align: left;">This one was obviously a fail. Huge and shapeless and I'm not a big fan of the asymmetric ruffle. My search for a white ruffle top continues. <b>Verdict</b>: Pass.</div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
4. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=201606707&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Double Breasted Striped Jacket with Patch Pockets<span id="goog_1239115058"></span></a> in XXSP:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5171/5536353106_0d2ac2e7f8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5171/5536353106_0d2ac2e7f8.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5213/5535775339_bded0bf3c5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5213/5535775339_bded0bf3c5.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;">This is an older item and is no longer available online, and any remaining stock is probably on the clearance rack. I actually quite liked it despite being initially wary of the stripes. The material is a thick knit and is very comfortable. I initially passed and was waiting for it to go on sale, but it seems to have sold out at my store. <b>Verdict</b>: Not available.</div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;">I like that the neckline and armholes fit, but the side view just wasn't very flattering on me. I'm on the fence about the print as well. On the upside, this is a good top to wear to a buffet since it can probably camouflage a post-binge tummy. <b>Verdict</b>: Pass unless deeply discounted.</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
6. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=222340494&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Twist Pleat Shell</a> in XXSP:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5017/5535776411_8a2a535e1b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5017/5535776411_8a2a535e1b.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5055/5535776347_7afcec4eab.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5055/5535776347_7afcec4eab.jpg" width="216" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

And here's what I sent in!<br />

Long-time blog readers may remember the denim skirt from my very first LOFT <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/09/huuuge-loft-haul.html">haul</a>, which I initially thought I would have to alter. But lo and behold, after just one cycle in the washer/dryer, it shrank enough to be wearable as is! I still need to belt for it to sit at my true waist, but is definitely passable and hopefully will continue to shrink a bit more over time!<br />
<br />
I also tried on a more colorful skirt with this top just for fun, and although it's brighter than what I'm used to, it definitely makes me feel like spring is almost here!<br />

Thank you everyone for entering! ***</i></div><br />
My short vacation is sadly coming to an end, but I had a great time and thought I'd share what I've been up to. When hubby and I got married, we never actually went on an official honeymoon because of time constraints... but we did spend some time at an amazing place called <a href="http://www.sanysidroranch.com/">San Ysidro Ranch</a> which is a short drive away. They offer private individual cottages and a secluded and peaceful atmosphere, as well as amazing food and impeccable service. It's definitely a splurge but we loved it so much that we had to go back!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: -webkit-auto;"><br />
</div></div><div style="text-align: center;">We stayed at a different cottage this time, and here's a quick tour starting with the private entrance:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5251/5498621981_c651b98339_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5251/5498621981_c651b98339_z.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />

One of the best parts about staying at SYR is that we could order room service from the excellent on-site restaurant menu. We took tons of food pics but this post is getting long, so I'll just share some of our favorites. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">They make the most amazing crab cakes I've ever tried:</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5012/5498622527_4937964c60_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5012/5498622527_4937964c60_z.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And the best tortilla soup in the world:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5214/5499216786_fb29642d68_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5214/5499216786_fb29642d68_z.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Pan-Seared Salmon with Wasabi Mashed Potatoes, Baby Bok Choy, Soy Ginger Sauce:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5295/5498622845_252ecf3cba_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5295/5498622845_252ecf3cba_z.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">16-hr Braised Beef Short Ribs with Boursin Whipped Potatoes, Broccolini, Smoked Sea Salt:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5140/5499217276_d9265a7425_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5140/5499217276_d9265a7425_z.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The food was great, but I also loved the little touches like fresh flowers with each meal:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/5499217102_c2e8ec5ace_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/5499217102_c2e8ec5ace_z.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>I brought a few outfits along to take pictures of, but ended up doing mostly nothing except for lounging around and watching HGTV. Here's as close to an outfit pic as I got on this trip:</div><div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5139/5498622409_783ded25b3_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5139/5498622409_783ded25b3_z.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div><div>We did spend some time trying out a new lens for our camera, which I thought turned out pretty nice pics for its relatively inexpensive price. I know this was a picture-heavy post, but I hope you enjoyed the vacation recap!</div></div>PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com27tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-18947927090619453422011-02-26T02:07:00.000-08:002011-04-03T02:42:48.736-07:00Alterations: Ann Taylor Texture Pencil SkirtI recently made a trip to the tailors, which never fails to leave me in a state of mild shock over how much tailoring costs can add up... but I have to say that I absolutely love the results! One of my favorite alterations this time is the Ann Taylor <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=212183658&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">pencil skirt</a> that I mentioned in the <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2011/02/ann-taylor-40-stackable-20-off-sale.html">last post</a>, which turned out fantastic! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5291/5477975569_cf20a62307_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="475" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5291/5477975569_cf20a62307_z.jpg" width="250" /></a></div><br />
I probably should've taken proper pics, but was so excited by how it turned out that I just grabbed my phone to snap away, and also threw on the ensemble that I was planning to wear for my presentation, which again was inspired by this stock photo:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7465/atruffle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7465/atruffle.jpg" width="219" /></a></div><br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">My initial thought was to get the skirt hemmed, but my tailor convinced me to get the sides slimmed, which would allow it to fit better overall. With that alteration it would sit higher on my natural waist, and would therefore hit me at a good length without any hemming needed... and she was right! I thought she did a beautiful job and it feels seriously amazing on... I think this is probably the best fitting pencil skirt that I currently own!</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;"></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;">Here again is how the skirt looked before:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7144/img1015ls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7144/img1015ls.jpg" width="168" /></a><a href="http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/1200/img1018mj.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/1200/img1018mj.jpg" width="160" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And here again is the after:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5294/5477975551_3c6e26f8b7_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="475" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5294/5477975551_3c6e26f8b7_z.jpg" width="162" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Blouse</b>: AT Charmeuse Ruffle Shirt, size 00P (<a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/08/ann-taylor-charmeuse-ruffle-blouse.html">post</a>)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Skirt</b>: AT <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=212183658&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Riley Texture Pencil Skirt</a>, size 00P </div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Shoes</b>: AT <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=169093613&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Perfect Leather Pumps</a>, size 5</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Unfortunately it was a cold rainy day today and I was freezing even with the added cardigan & white coat:</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5140/5478574194_353ac5c8b0_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5140/5478574194_353ac5c8b0_z.jpg" width="159" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5176/5477975503_1ef2c55c42_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5176/5477975503_1ef2c55c42_z.jpg" width="185" /></a></div><br />
So instead of wearing this outfit, I made a last-minute decision to switch to the petite-favorite (and warmer) Banana Republic tweed <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/2011/01/how-to-look-taller-heels-hem.html">dress</a> that I'd also just gotten back from the tailor. I took a few iPhone pics of it but they turned out blurry, so I'll have to retake the pics for another post.<br />
<br />
I'm so glad my presentation is done... a big thanks to everyone who shared helpful public speaking tips and words of encouragement! I actually had a really good turnout of attendings... some of whom I'm sure came for the free catered food lol, but it felt good to have an audience to show the fruits of my labor to nevertheless. Now that it's over, I can relax and enjoy my one week of vacation time that starts today! I hope you guys are having a fantastic weekend! :)PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com24tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-56319992652868240922011-02-17T13:21:00.000-08:002011-04-03T02:43:04.123-07:00Ann Taylor 40% + Stackable 20% Off Sale!<div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;">I'm really supposed to be working on my presentation, but did a little quick shopping since there's a really good promotion going on right now at Ann Taylor. <div style="text-align: center;">On a side note, I recently tweeted about this AT <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=212183658&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Riley Texture Pencil Skirt</a> in 00P:</div><table style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>

</tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I picked it up in a previous order for ~$55 and was planning to wear it in the work outfit I talked about in the previous <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2011/02/100th-post-day-in-life.html">post</a>. Here are some quick & grainy iPhone pics:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7144/img1015ls.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" src="http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/7144/img1015ls.jpg" width="183" /></a><a href="http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/1200/img1018mj.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" src="http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/1200/img1018mj.jpg" width="175" /></a></div><br />
</div></div>I've actually never tried on any Ann Taylor pencil skirts before and was pleasantly surprised by how the size 00P fits! I initially thought I could even get by without any alterations, but am now considering getting it hemmed. I prefer for it to sit slightly higher on the waist as well, but slimming sounds like a potentially complicated alteration per <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/">Jean</a> who definitely knows what she's doing! Any thoughts?</div>PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-41779314261989951072011-02-15T22:55:00.000-08:002011-02-16T01:45:00.182-08:00100th Post! A Day In The Life...I just realized that this marks my 100th post! It's also been almost a year since I started blogging... in fact, it's that time of the year again for my annual big presentation, and the one time a year where I actually wear something other than scrubs to work! You can see what I wore last year <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/05/real-work-clothes.html">here</a>. I've barely started to work on my presentation, but I already have my outfit picked out! Lol... I'm thinking about something almost exactly like this:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7465/atruffle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7465/atruffle.jpg" width="275" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I have that blouse in teal and am planning to pair it with a charcoal pencil skirt and a skinny black belt. As for shoes, I decided to pick up another pair of the AT <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=169093613&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Perfect Leather Pump</a> in black, since I currently don't have any black pumps. I'm normally a size 5.5/6, but these pumps fit me perfectly in size 5... and I seriously love them!<br />
<br />
</div><table style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td><div style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white; border: 1px solid rgb(191, 191, 191);"><div style="padding: 5px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=169093613&pid=uid3601-1395551-96" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img height="275" src="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/productWidgetImage?id=169093613&size=XLarge&imageUrl=5994bac482b947ac3ccecb0fc3e003ab" style="border-style: none;" width="223" /></a></div></div></td></tr>
</tbody></table><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">It's basically going to look just like this outfit I posted <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/08/ann-taylor-charmeuse-ruffle-blouse.html">before</a>, except in different colors with an added white coat:</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/9640/dsc01660t.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="547" src="http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/9640/dsc01660t.jpg" width="200" /></a><a href="http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/5574/dsc01661yw.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="547" src="http://img340.imageshack.us/img340/5574/dsc01661yw.jpg" width="217" /></a></div><br />
Since it is my 100th post after all, I figured I should share a bit more about myself and what I do. I'm currently about halfway through a medical residency. For those who are not familiar with the US medical education system, it consists of 4 years of college and 4 years of medical school. After finishing those 8 years, even though you're technically a "doctor", you can't really practice (or know how to) until you complete a residency in the field of your choice. Residencies range from 3 to 7 years depending on the specialty, and the first year of residency is traditionally known as internship.<br />
<br />
I'm doing my residency in radiology, which is a specialty with limited patient contact. Radiologists are the ones who interpret or "read" all the imaging studies like CT, MRI, X-ray, ultrasound, and so on that other doctors order. It's mostly a desk job, but I do see patients when I'm doing procedures like lumbar punctures, barium studies, or ultrasound-guided biopsies or drainage. This is where I spend most of my time when at work or on call... a dark room with the 4 basic essentials to be a radiologist:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/5931/workbg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/5931/workbg.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It's a little ironic that I actually celebrated never having to write another literary analysis essay again when I graduated college.... because I ended up basically writing reports for a living!<br />
<br />
I hope you enjoyed learning about one of the lesser known specialties of radiology! In any case, I'm giving my big presentation next Friday and only have a grand total of 8 slides so far, so I'll likely need to put blogging on the back burner for a bit to focus. It's a pretty formal presentation and I'm dreading the public speaking part since I still get super nervous, so please share any tips if you have them! :)PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com27tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-86611394896760498722011-02-10T00:05:00.000-08:002011-04-03T02:44:00.594-07:00My First Theory: The Gratian BlazerEver since Kelly of <a href="http://www.alterationsneeded.com/2009/11/jacket-that-runs-small-theory-gratian.html">AlterationsNeeded</a> first wrote about the Theory Gratian blazer, it seems like virtually every petite who managed to get their hands on one has absolutely loved it. And even though several other Theory blazers have come onto the scene since then, I still secretly wished for but had given up hope on ever finding my very own Gratian. They simply weren't available even if I had the $$ to pay the hefty full price (which I don't!). <br />
<br />
But I must've been a VERY good girl last year because not only did the style resurface over the holidays in a black textured version, my Secret Santa also helped me track down the ever elusive size 00!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5099/5433057222_6d096930c9_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5099/5433057222_6d096930c9_z.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This was my very first Theory item and I love it. Since Jean of ExtraPetite already did a thorough post on it <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/2011/01/theory-outlet-finds-gratian-blazer-saga.html">here</a>, I won't go into too much detail. I knew it ran small from seeing it on other petites, but was still quite surprised at the shrunkenness of it in person.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4120/5433057156_6f87ace466_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4120/5433057156_6f87ace466_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5257/5432447575_94bfc56796_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5257/5432447575_94bfc56796_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4108/5432447627_a00d92e9d1_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4108/5432447627_a00d92e9d1_z.jpg" /> </a> </div><div style="text-align: left;">It's slightly boxy on the side view, but because the length is cropped enough, I think it's still do-able. And the best part? A very reasonable price tag for a Theory blazer since it was an outlet find!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5211/5433062044_64a5f48458.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5211/5433062044_64a5f48458.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Thanks Santa!! But I still check Twitter and try to read some my favorite blogs during random free moments, even if my comments haven't been so timely! In any case, I've been holding on to a bunch of fitting room pics that I haven't had a chance to incorporate into proper posts, but I figured I should share them so that they might be somewhat helpful while the items are still available.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">The first store up is LOFT...</div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">1. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=210554474&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Abstract Print Shell</a> in XXSP:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4142/5409859726_4bfcabefdc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4142/5409859726_4bfcabefdc.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5178/5409900638_f835689c78.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5178/5409900638_f835689c78.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The armholes were good and the neckline was slightly on the low side but I can probably still go without a cami. It also comes in a couple of solid <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=210557389&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">colors</a>, but I like the print which is great for spring and I believe is the same print as this cute <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=210763069&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">pencil skirt</a> that's now available in petite sizing. <b>Verdict</b>: Want!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">2. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=210554439&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Cotton Metallic Tiered Jacket</a> in 0P:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5056/5409246069_9750f4eb25.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5056/5409246069_9750f4eb25.jpg" width="243" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5217/5409859914_15b87a745b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5217/5409859914_15b87a745b.jpg" width="205" /></a></div><br />
There was no 00P in store, but I doubt sizing down would've helped the silhouette of this jacket. I liked the soft lavender color, but layers of ruffles all around just made it too puffy and boxy. <b>Verdict</b>: Pass.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">3. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=205829825&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Deep Cowl Neck Shell</a> in XXSP:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5051/5409245939_8416fd3d8b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5051/5409245939_8416fd3d8b.jpg" width="234" /></a><a href="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1439/5409245819_f7dee75ba4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1439/5409245819_f7dee75ba4.jpg" width="234" /></a></div><br />
A simple knit top with an overall decent fit. I thought it was slimming on me, but I'm afraid the material will pill after a few washes. <b>Verdict</b>: Wait for deep discounts.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The next store is Banana Republic...</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">1. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=204022585&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Classic Trench</a> in XXSP:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4132/5409859414_5b63734325_z.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4132/5409859414_5b63734325_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5136/5409245641_69f26d917e_z.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5136/5409245641_69f26d917e_z.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I was hoping BR had improved their sizing since the last time they offered a classic trench.... but no such luck. Their XXSP was still a size too big on me, and doesn't look quite right even when cinched. <b>Verdict</b>: Pass.<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">2. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=207963960&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Brigitte Double-Knit Ruffle Dress</a> in 00P:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5252/5409859258_752ca6d169.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5252/5409859258_752ca6d169.jpg" width="232" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5094/5409245481_63081d7f8f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5094/5409245481_63081d7f8f.jpg" width="126" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5011/5409859308_27469b0c0f.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5011/5409859308_27469b0c0f.jpg" width="160" /></a></div><br />
Despite being a knit dress, it was still loose on me especially in the bust. The only thing I did like was that the material was a thicker knit. <b>Verdict</b>: Pass.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">3. <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=206301314&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Cascading Ruffle Dress</a> in 00P:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4097/5409859454_a35b141639_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4097/5409859454_a35b141639_z.jpg" width="198" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5131/5409245701_788c9d7e29_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5131/5409245701_788c9d7e29_z.jpg" width="161" /></a></div><br />
Loosey-goosey fit, thin material, may be better if belted... but I thought it was overpriced at $130. <b>Verdict</b>: Pass.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">And finally, my visit to H&M was once again largely unfruitful... that is, except for this jacket!</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4147/5409860046_0c2a509fec.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4147/5409860046_0c2a509fec.jpg" width="278" /></a><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/5409860088_567d5c5790.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/5409860088_567d5c5790.jpg" width="272" /></a></div><br />
I must've made 4 trips to different H&Ms trying to find a <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/2010/09/petite-lookbook-little-red-jacket.html">jacket</a> that PAG reviewed several months ago, but without success. Imagine my delight when I spotted this jacket which looks almost like an exact duplicate, and also fits tiny! The price is not bad either at $35, and it also comes in black as well as a peach color that you can see on PetiteLittleGirl <a href="http://www.petitelittlegirl.com/2011/01/h-new-arrivals.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Hope you enjoyed the virtual shopping trip! As always, comments and opinions are welcome. I've been trying to cut back on the spending so didn't end up buying anything (except for the H&M jacket), but it's always good to know which items are winners so I can snatch them up if they go on sale later!PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com30tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-12272813062748928042011-01-27T17:33:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:14:18.646-08:00Review: New Banana Republic Petite FindsI feel like it's been forever since Banana Republic came out with any real winner for petites, so imagine my surprise when every item in my last BR order was a hit in terms of potential!<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">First is the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=211897128&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Mosaic Print Eve Wrap Dress</a> in XXSP:</div><table style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td><div style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white; border: 1px solid rgb(191, 191, 191);"><div style="padding: 5px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=211897128&pid=uid3601-1395551-96" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img height="320" src="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/productWidgetImage?id=211897128&size=XLarge&imageUrl=8a5779a72d5b68dfd7a88b067a2eccc2" style="border-style: none;" width="240" /></a></div></div></td></tr>
</tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Even though wrap dresses are touted as a wardrobe essential for petites, I usually find that even when I wrap them as tightly as I can humanly manage, most are too low-cut and loose everywhere except for at the waist where it's tied. This one is probably the best-fitting wrap dress that I've ever tried on (including my other <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/09/belated-labor-day-finds.html">LOFT ruffle wrap dress</a>), probably because there's a bit of stretch in the smooth silk/viscose material.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/3228/dsc04923pi.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="475" src="http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/3228/dsc04923pi.jpg" width="154" /></a><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/5394541042_dd24cdc652.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4115/5394541042_dd24cdc652.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/5393943951_8b8d79f7e7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4111/5393943951_8b8d79f7e7.jpg" /></a></div><br />
It's a definite winner for me in terms of fit, but is still quite expensive at $84 after discounts. I also wonder about the versatility of the print:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/5391930763_f6b4bca5c3.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="376" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5215/5391930763_f6b4bca5c3.jpg" width="275" /></a></div><br />
For some reason I wasn't able to find this dress on their site when the recent 35% off sale was on. But now it's back... must be another item BR was "saving" for after the sale like Kelly of AlterationsNeeded had <a href="http://www.alterationsneeded.com/2010/06/adventures-in-online-shopping-banana.html">discovered</a>.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Next is the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=191731300&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Textured Mini Skirt</a> in XXSP:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span"></span></div><table style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td><div style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white; border: 1px solid rgb(191, 191, 191);"><div style="padding: 5px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=191731300&pid=uid3601-1395551-96" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img height="280" src="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/productWidgetImage?id=191731300&size=XLarge&imageUrl=93b410ec63fb3926dd681e07e086e7d8" style="border-style: none;" width="210" /></a></div></div></td></tr>
</tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><span class="Apple-style-span">I bought this one because all the reviews said it runs too small... which was a good sign for me! </span><span class="Apple-style-span">Although it's strange but I don't see those reviews anymore on their site, I wonder if BR removes negative reviews when an item doesn't sell well.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5172/5391930601_431d8e576c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="455" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5172/5391930601_431d8e576c.jpg" width="223" /></a></div><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span">I think it looks better IRL than in the stock photo. The waist is slim enough to sit near my natural waist, and the "mini" length hits me at a good spot. It's also fully-lined which is a plus. </span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5220/5392530096_f7175b789d_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5220/5392530096_f7175b789d_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5255/5392529986_0421490dcb_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5255/5392529986_0421490dcb_z.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Cardigan</b>: LOFT <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=169570907&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">V-Neck Long Cardigan</a>, size XXSP</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><span class="Apple-style-span">My only quibble is that the slight A-line shape flares out a bit (although not even as much as the J.Crew <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/12/new-jcrew-fav-finds.html">Wool Bell skirt</a>). But since I managed to re-buy it at the current sale price of $18, I think it's a keeper!</span><br />
<br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span">Last is the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=208204080&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Vertical Ruffle Cardigan</a> in XXSP:</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span"></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span"></span></div><table style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td><div style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white; border: 1px solid rgb(191, 191, 191);"><div style="padding: 5px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=208204080&pid=uid3601-1395551-96" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img height="320" src="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/productWidgetImage?id=208204080&size=XLarge&imageUrl=238f393ad1a4febb775c93fe012ea3bd" style="border-style: none;" width="240" /></a></div></div></td></tr>
</tbody></table><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I've accumulated quite a collection of cardigans this season from LOFT & J.Crew, so I don't really <i>need</i> another sweater. But I got it on a whim because I was drawn to the "vintage green" and also wanted to see if BR sizing has improved any.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5053/5392530268_ac7c12c751_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5053/5392530268_ac7c12c751_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5133/5391930887_d5707e3369_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5133/5391930887_d5707e3369_z.jpg" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Love the material which is incredibly soft. Fit is slightly slouchy but I suspect will be better after a wash/dry. It also comes in a pretty <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=208204080&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">light pink</a>, but is still quite expensive despite coupons ($52) so I won't be keeping. Although if it ever goes on super sale, I probably wouldn't mind adding it to my collection :)</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5133/5391930717_0f090592ea.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="373" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5133/5391930717_0f090592ea.jpg" width="275" /></a></div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">If anyone is interested, BR currently has 30% off everything until 2/3 with code <b>BRJAN30</b>, although it sometimes shows 20% so you might have to clear cookies to get it to work. It's rare that I don't find a single lemon in an entire order from any retailer, so I hope BR continues to improve their style offerings and sizing and finally give the petite favorites LOFT & J.Crew some competition! </div></div>PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com21tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-4781574612092376702011-01-19T00:10:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:03:57.089-08:00Lace Skirts: H&M vs. LOFT<div>Remember back when I <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/12/mini-loft-haul-skirts-dresses.html">posted</a> about the LOFT <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=197609095&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">lace skirt</a>? Well it seemed like most of you liked the style but not so much the fit of it on me (and I agreed!). I also mentioned back then that <a href="http://www.cuteandlittle.com/">Kileen</a> was kind enough to pick up the popular H&M lace skirt in my size for me... and I knew I would have trouble deciding! And since I'm planning to make a return trip this weekend, it's final decision time!</div><div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And here they are... the H&M pencil vs. LOFT scallop-edge lace skirts:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5368865137_5c7fe0b916_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5368865137_5c7fe0b916_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5007/5368865175_00eec85f45_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5007/5368865175_00eec85f45_z.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">More views of the H&M:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5168/5369474068_f0208562d8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5168/5369474068_f0208562d8.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5044/5368865327_e3a8dc28c2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5044/5368865327_e3a8dc28c2.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div>I know there's quite a bit of size inconsistency in this skirt, but the fit of the waist was pretty good on me (mine measured 12" across). The length, however, hit me below the knees and I felt slightly overwhelmed in it since the material is a bit stiff as some of you had mentioned. And to be honest, it wasn't the most flattering side view since my behind isn't *ahem* quite generous enough to fill it out.</div><div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">As for the LOFT skirt:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5006/5369474226_a1e2fab42d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5006/5369474226_a1e2fab42d.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5048/5369474268_b1aa8e72fb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5048/5369474268_b1aa8e72fb.jpg" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Again, it sits low on the waist and can only be worn underneath tops, unless I get the sides slimmed as Jean <a href="http://www.blogger.com/profile/12216324874406973211">suggested</a>. This skirt ended up being $20 less than the H&M, so I guess I wouldn't terribly mind getting it altered. Here's how it would theoretically look after alterations, which comes a lot closer to how it's supposed to look:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5046/5369474184_6d3a1ffc5d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5046/5369474184_6d3a1ffc5d.jpg" /></a><a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=197609095&pid=uid3601-1395551-96" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/2397/screenshot20110118at110.png" /></a></div><div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I love the silhouette of the H&M pencil skirt, but I'm leaning ever so slightly towards the LOFT, since I generally wear skirts in casual settings and not to work. But the LOFT skirt does require a trip to the tailors, as well as a little more TLC in care (hand vs. machine wash)... decisions, decisions!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Which would you go with?</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5083/5368865387_c17b42c42b_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5083/5368865387_c17b42c42b_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5369474342_7f573f1e5e_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5369474342_7f573f1e5e_z.jpg" /></a></div>PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com37tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-17694959737869005192011-01-14T22:35:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:04:20.162-08:00Mustard Yellow Vs. Gold<div style="text-align: center;"></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: left;">Tallying the votes so far for the J.Crew cardigans from the last post, it seems like the majority favorite was the Gold - which was actually my first choice as well since I'd been wanting a mustard yellow cardigan for a long time. I initially thought that it was close enough... until I spotted a truly mustardy yellow cardigan from a Banana Republic outlet store a little while back.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">And look at the difference!</div></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5168/5356507598_a98bf853b0.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5168/5356507598_a98bf853b0.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5284/5356507576_6bdd80b107.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5284/5356507576_6bdd80b107.jpg" style="cursor: move;" /></a></div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px; text-align: left;">I love that the BR cardigan seems to be the exact color of Jean's lovely <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/2010/10/fall-favorites-gap-is-back-for-cozytime.html">Gap jacket</a>, and that's what convinced me to buy even though the fit was rather long. After picking it up, I subsequently spotted the same cardigan on Vicky <a href="http://vickysdailyfashion.blogspot.com/2010/12/ootd-mustard-yellow-i-finally-found-you.html">here</a> and Sydney <a href="http://petitegorgeous.blogspot.com/2010/12/reader-request-how-to-care-for-ruffles.html">here</a>.</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">A few more views of the BR zip cardigan:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5081/5356473692_da682f1bf5_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5081/5356473692_da682f1bf5_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5248/5356507628_ab2951b8c7_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5248/5356507628_ab2951b8c7_z.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">And the J.Crew <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=195472972&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Merino Chiffon Placket Cardigan</a> again in Gold:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5050/5356473670_2ef03841e2_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5050/5356473670_2ef03841e2_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5210/5355893859_8a64084471_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5210/5355893859_8a64084471_z.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And for a direct comparison:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5127/5355860163_b240ca3339_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5127/5355860163_b240ca3339_z.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I think fit-wise, the J.Crew cardigan is probably more flattering. But I do love the mustardy goodness of the BR sweater. What do you think... should I keep either or both? And thanks again to everyone who voted on the last <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2011/01/jcrew-merino-chiffon-cardigans-galore.html">post</a>, based on your feedback I'll be keeping the Mansfield Blue, but am still thinking about the Heather Graphite & Weathered Wood.PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com33tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-67780462429392506922011-01-10T21:35:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:10:26.127-08:00J.Crew Merino Chiffon Cardigans Galore!As I'd mentioned <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/12/new-jcrew-fav-finds.html">before</a> in the last J.Crew post, I scooped up several of the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=195472972&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Merino Chiffon Placket Cardigans</a> when they went on sale for $21... four to be exact! And here they are... all in size XXS: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5123/5344958801_afce223677_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5123/5344958801_afce223677_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5210/5345570728_be23c269b5_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5210/5345570728_be23c269b5_z.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> <b>Above</b>: <i>Heather Graphite</i> & <i>Mansfield Blue</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Below</b>:<i> </i><i>Weathered Wood</i> & <i>Gold</i></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5125/5345570830_41f800033b_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5125/5345570830_41f800033b_z.jpg" /></a><a href="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5281/5344958737_09308dac9d_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5281/5344958737_09308dac9d_z.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><b>Jeans</b>: A&F Kids <a href="http://www.abercrombiekids.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10101&catalogId=10851&productId=558385&langId=-1&categoryId=50464">Maddy Skinny</a>, size 12</div><br />
Now I'm sure most of you have already seen this cardigan on many other petite bloggers, so I won't go into too much detail about it. Basically the concensus was that it has a slouchy fit and rather tight sleeve cuffs. Suffice it to say it fits pretty much the same on me, but here's a fun little animation to demonstrate the 360<b>°</b> view:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/2203/jcrew.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="http://img17.imageshack.us/img17/2203/jcrew.gif" width="200" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">I couldn't figure out how to make the image quality better... but hopefully you get the point! </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"></div>Even though I got them at a great price, it seems like four is an excessive number to keep, especially given the fit... but I really can't decide which one(s) to send back! I don't have any of those colors in my closet, so couldn't narrow it down based on that. And knowing me, I'll probably just procrastinate until it's too late to return any of them lol :XPetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com36tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-33068734769366131462011-01-06T06:06:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:10:33.446-08:00Free Zoya Nail Polish: My PicksI'm not a huge nail polish junkie by any means, and can barely paint my own nails. But when I heard that Zoya is giving away 3 free bottles of nail polish for being their Facebook fan with the code <b>FB2011 </b>(just pay $6.95 for shipping), I couldn't resist taking a look. But I was immediately overwhelmed by their gazillion choices (including my <a href="http://www.artofbeauty.com/content/38/item/Zoya/Zoya-Nail-Polish-Lianne.html">namesake</a>) and had no idea where to start! Luckily Google was extremely helpful as always, and I was able to narrow my choices down somewhat.<br />
<div><div><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">I found <a href="http://www.scrangie.com/search/label/zoya">Scrangie</a> to be a pretty helpful site with tons of Zoya swatches... for example:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

A huge thanks to Jessy of <a href="http://thelittledustprincess.blogspot.com/">The Little Dust Princess</a> who pretty much organized everything and introduced us to a nifty website called <a href="http://www.elfster.com/">Elfster</a>. The whole process including randomized assignments, anonymous Q&As, and wishlists made everything virtually effortless.<br />
<br />
I was so excited to receive a package from my Secret Santa... especially when I found it was none other than Jean from <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/">ExtraPetite</a>! She sent me a whole bunch of goodies with a sweet hand-written note.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/7132/dsc029262c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img697.imageshack.us/img697/7132/dsc029262c.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I love how everything was so personalized and carefully chosen! She remembered practically everything I've ever mentioned and sent me: liquid eyeliner for me to practice my rudimentary make-up application skills, an Ulta brush for my Rock & Republic blush that I'd asked her about, and Kiehl's eye cream for my worsening dark circles that I'd once mentioned in a comment.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Last but not least, she got me this pretty necklace:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/9003/dsc029352.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/9003/dsc029352.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">... that's a perfect match for my teal Ann Taylor <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/08/ann-taylor-charmeuse-ruffle-blouse.html">ruffle blouse</a> that she knew I had:</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7465/atruffle.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/7465/atruffle.jpg" /></a></div>How thoughtful! I really hope my Secret Santa pick, Jess from <a href="http://www.stylepint.com/">Stylepint</a>, enjoys her gift as much as I enjoyed mine!<br />
<br />
I also very unexpectedly received a couple other surprises in the mail this month, including a ton of goodies from Elle of <a href="http://fastfoodandfastfashion.blogspot.com/">FastFoodAndFastFashion</a>:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/5642/dsc02958g.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img816.imageshack.us/img816/5642/dsc02958g.jpg" /></a></div>There was a J.Crew belt, H&M pin, hair acccessories, Clinique eyeshadow and mascara, and some yummy treats. I'm not sure what I did to deserve all these goodies, but thanks Elle for being such a sweetheart!<br />
<br />
And finally, I'd recently tweeted to Sydney of <a href="http://www.petitelittlegirl.com/">PetiteLittleGirl</a> about her Eos lipbalm, and she surprised me with one!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/1395/img07812.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/1395/img07812.jpg" /></a></div>They really are fun to use, although unfortunately my HG lipbalm still remains elusive. But thanks, Sydney, for adding to my lipbalm collection!<br />
<br />
The best part of my holidays this year though wasn't about the gifts - it was all the people I have in my life, both old and new. I feel so incredibly blessed to have met so many wonderful ladies online, and have never felt more like part of a community. I truly want to thank my readers and fellow bloggers for all their support, and I hope everyone is having a happy holidays!! :)PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-26457156061090932342010-12-27T00:05:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:11:18.701-08:00Mini LOFT Haul: Skirts & Dresses<div style="text-align: center;"><div style="text-align: left;">I had no idea the last LOFT haul post would be so controversial! I had a ton of feedback about the items, and I really really appreciated everyone's honest advice since I was slightly on the fence about most of them. The first sweater is probably going back since it wasn't comfy enough or cheap enough for me to overlook the "diseased" nubs I can't stop thinking about now after reading Aubrey's <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/12/mini-loft-haul-tops-sweaters.html?showComment=1293126902618#c2552977529346772790">comment</a>. I also had no idea those jeans were so unflattering! They're an old adult-sized A&F jeans that I bought a long time ago and was so excited about then because they "fit". I haven't worn them in a while and pulled them out for pics because I haven't had time to do laundry lol. I guess those are going in the washer/dryer a few more times to see if I can get them to fit better.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">But to continue with my mini LOFT haul, I actually only have a couple more items to talk about. First is the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=194523221&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Cable Sweater Dress</a> in XXSP ($27, orig $90):</div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><table style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td><div style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white; border: 1px solid rgb(191, 191, 191);"><div style="padding: 5px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=194523221&pid=uid3601-1395551-96" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/productWidgetImage?id=194523221&size=XLarge&imageUrl=bfab86d4c9df6a988e8d64fadab5c8d8" style="border-style: none;" /></a></div></div></td></tr>
</tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I actually liked this in the dark grey version too, but already have a charcoal grey sweater dress from LOFT that I got last year, so I decided to get this in the neutral color.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/2577/dsc026842.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img221.imageshack.us/img221/2577/dsc026842.jpg" /></a><a href="http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/9996/dsc02690tb.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/9996/dsc02690tb.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I thought the fit was pretty good. I liked that the cables are on the top half, which adds a little bit of bulk to the bust and makes it more flattering :) I can't decide if the ribbing was meant to be a empire waist, but it hits me at a good spot to define the waist and would probably look good belted as well. The material is not itchy, but does shed quite a bit because when I hugged hubby, I left yarn bits all over his black shirt. I wonder if a wash will fix that?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And next, remember this <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=197609095&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Scallop Edge Lace Skirt</a> from my other <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/11/seven-confessions.html">post</a>?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><table style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td><div style="background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% white; border: 1px solid rgb(191, 191, 191);"><div style="padding: 5px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=197609095&pid=uid3601-1395551-96" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img src="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/productWidgetImage?id=197609095&size=XLarge&imageUrl=52bb29369afeb2569cd8360e0d12d742" style="border-style: none;" /></a></div></div></td></tr>
</tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">After discounts, it came out to about $24 (orig $80) which was definitely reasonable, so I picked it up in size 00P:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/1676/dsc02788222.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/1676/dsc02788222.jpg" /></a><a href="http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/7646/dsc02801y.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/7646/dsc02801y.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">As you can see in the first tucked in pic, it sits pretty low on my waist like most other LOFT skirts. But because the length is decent and hits me above the knee, I think it looks okay when worn under tops. This is me trying a "walking pose" a la <a href="http://www.thechloeconspiracy.com/">Chloe</a> lol:</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/7003/dsc02825b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/7003/dsc02825b.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I've been wanting a lace skirt for a while now, and this does hit the spot even though I do wish it sits a bit higher. That said, <a href="http://www.cuteandlittle.com/">Kileen</a> juuuust picked up a lace pencil skirt from H&M for me today that I haven't been able to find in my size, so I might have to reconsider once I try that on. But for now, bring on the comments and opinions! :)</div>PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com26tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-53577909157460742392010-12-23T07:50:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:11:18.703-08:00Mini LOFT Haul: Tops & Sweaters<div style="text-align: left;">Since J.Crew has been all the rage lately on the petite blogosphere, I'll head back to an old favorite... LOFT! My favorite time to shop there is when they have 40% off everything, which is stackable with their $25 off $50 savings cards and makes for some amazing deals! My haul this time isn't as exciting as <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/09/huuuge-loft-haul.html">the first time</a> I found out about it, and I'm not sure I'm keeping everything, but here goes!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">First is the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=189645130&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Marled Cocoon Cardigan</a> in XS/SP ($25, orig $80):</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/683/dsc02786wg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/683/dsc02786wg.jpg" /></a><a href="http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/2990/dsc027742.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img703.imageshack.us/img703/2990/dsc027742.jpg" /></a></div><br />
This was previously seen on Jean at ExtraPetite <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/2010/11/loft-coat-and-stackable-sweaters-sale.html">here</a>, and I actually had returned my original one. But lo and behold, it was still available at my local store, so I decided to pick it up again at the lower price. The material is slightly itchy, but since I'll likely be wearing it over a long-sleeved shirt I think it should be okay. There are no actual closures, but I found that it stays closed if I use one of the yarn "nubs" as a makeshift button.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/4640/dsc027662.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="450" src="http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/4640/dsc027662.jpg" width="276" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
Next is the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=194523232&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Banded Bottom Ruffle Shell</a> in XXSP ($15, orig $50):<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/3082/dsc02747ol.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/3082/dsc02747ol.jpg" /></a><a href="http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/1304/dsc02753oy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/1304/dsc02753oy.jpg" /></a></div><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>This was an impromptu buy! I hadn't even noticed it online or in-store until that day... but a ruffly shell with armholes that fit perfectly was hard to pass up. I'm not super crazy about the blouson style (which LOFT seems to like a lot), and the color is definitely out of my comfort zone, but I brought it home to think about. I recently spotted the same top on Vicky too <a href="http://vickysdailyfashion.blogspot.com/2010/12/ootd-mustard-yellow-i-finally-found-you.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
Next is the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=197609316&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Abstract Print Blouse with Tie</a> in XXSP ($17, orig $55):</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/9387/dsc027272.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/9387/dsc027272.jpg" /></a><a href="http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4491/dsc02740l.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/4491/dsc02740l.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Again, the color/print is a bit brighter than what I'm used to, but I have a slight weak spot for bell/trumpet sleeves... and look, there's ruffles! :P It speaks a little "mature" to me, but is a very comfortable blouse and the price isn't bad. I wonder if this one will go on crazy clearance though... will have to hold on to my receipt!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><br />
And finally, the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=187733079&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Striped Cardigan with Bow and Brooch Detail </a>in XXSP ($11, orig $70):</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/1457/dsc02722o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/1457/dsc02722o.jpg" /></a><a href="http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7175/dsc027142.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/7175/dsc027142.jpg" /></a></div><br />
I've had my eye on this one for a long time now and have seen it on several other petite bloggers. I was very happy to be able to pick it up for an amazing price! I lucked out because the SA let me use the savings card anyway even though it was already a sale item. Definitely keeping it for sure!<br />
<div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;"><br />
</div><div style="margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 0px;">That's it for tops and sweaters.. so what do you think? Any votes for returning any of the items? I do have a few more items saved for the next part of the haul, which will be skirts & dresses. Due to being swamped with work, it actually took me THREE days of using every available free moment to take pics and write just this one post, so I had to split it up. I also haven't been able to keep up with and comment on my fav blogs (you know who you are!). But luckily after this week I'll be done with long night shifts for a while, so I'm looking forward to catching up with everybody again!</div>PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com29tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-63639384632385694942010-12-18T02:55:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:13:05.111-08:00Petite Bloggers & TLBCLast night, I got a chance to hang out with a couple other petite bloggers at <a href="http://www.thelittlebracompany.com/">The Little Bra Company</a>'s Holiday Open House. They'd just opened a new office/showroom in downtown L.A., and invited us over for a little holiday gathering with cookies and eggnog.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/9431/dsc02327k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/9431/dsc02327k.jpg" /></a></div><br />
We were treated to a preview of the new styles they'll be introducing, including ones that will be available in C cups. They also showed us several styles from their upcoming swimwear line which I'm so excited about! Here's the adorable Britni from their "A-team" who showed us the goods, posing with their bestselling Lucia bra:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/3493/dsc02317t.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/3493/dsc02317t.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">A whole rack of lovely bras to check out:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/6258/dsc02324uo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/6258/dsc02324uo.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"> The awesome petite bloggers I met, Kelly of <a href="http://www.alterationsneeded.com/">AlterationsNeeded</a> and Jess of <a href="http://www.stylepint.com/">Stylepint</a>:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/9303/dsc02319b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="368" src="http://img28.imageshack.us/img28/9303/dsc02319b.jpg" width="275" /></a><a href="http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/1038/dsc02322z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="368" src="http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/1038/dsc02322z.jpg" width="275" /></a></div><br />
I also got to meet the founder of the company, Emily Lau, and she was so nice! We all took pics together, but all of my pics with her turned out blurry so I'll defer to Kelly or Jess for nicer pics from the DSLRs they both brought versus my ghetto point-and-shoot. But here's the one shot of us three petite bloggers that turned out the least blurry:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/712/dsc02346w.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/712/dsc02346w.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Notice how we're all roughly the same height! Well, we were all wearing heels, but same difference lol. It was so nice to meet with these gals in person, and it was pretty neat to realize how well I've come to know so many lovely ladies over the past year. I can't wait to finally see Jean of <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/">ExtraPetite</a> at the end of the month!PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com24tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-31750301709698554022010-12-14T19:11:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:13:22.856-08:00New J.Crew Favorite FindsI honestly didn't think I would ever find anything at J.Crew that fits! Even though I loved this <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/04/jcrew-grand-ruffle-shells-galore.html">ruffle shell</a> and got it in several colors when it went on super sale, in retrospect it still fits quite long on me. And bottoms? Don't even think about it! Even when Kelly of <a href="http://www.alterationsneeded.com/">AlterationsNeeded</a> raved about <a href="http://www.alterationsneeded.com/2010/09/you-had-me-at-jcrew-petite-size-wool.html">this skirt</a>, I secretly had my doubts lol. But I should've trusted her because she was absolutely right!<br />
<br />
Even though I made the order mainly for the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=278982&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">olive coat</a> I mentioned in the last post (which I'm probably not keeping, but more on coats in general later), I ended up really liking a couple of the other items:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/507/dsc02664m.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="600" src="http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/507/dsc02664m.jpg" width="313" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">First is of course the afore-mentioned <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=170156213&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Wool Bell Skirt</a> in size 00:</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/7645/dsc02617k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/7645/dsc02617k.jpg" width="178" /></a><a href="http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/7484/dsc02593x.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/7484/dsc02593x.jpg" width="184" /></a></div><br />
This turned out even smaller than I had expected! It actually really reminds me of the <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=173345060&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">BR Paper Bag skirt</a>, which I was kinda turned off by because of the name. But I like this one a lot, the elastic is tight enough to tuck shirts in snugly, but slim enough that it isn't too noticeably lumpy when worn underneath tops. I really like this color too, I think it's versatile and is something I don't have in my closet yet. And on sale for $35? Definitely a keeper!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Next is the <a href="http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Navigation/Sale/AllProducts/PRDOVR~32367/99102153232/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~0~15~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~muse/32367.jsp">Muse Tank</a> in size XXS:</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/4427/dsc02572k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/4427/dsc02572k.jpg" width="194" /></a><a href="http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/5490/dsc02528q.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/5490/dsc02528q.jpg" width="218" /></a></div><br />
It's definitely long on me, but the armholes and neckline are good. I like how the ribbon ties cinch the waist and can be worn either in front or back. I also love this Urban Grey color which actually looks like a pale sage green to me. I also got it in the Heirloom Pink which is pretty but completely washes me out and I don't plan on keeping. You can also check it out in Golden Topaz on Vicky <a href="http://vickysdailyfashion.blogspot.com/2010/12/golden-topaz-muse-tank.html">here</a>.<br />
<br />
Of course since I ordered, everything is now further discounted and there's an even better code, <b>MUSTHAVE</b>, for 30% off with free shipping on orders over $150. The skirt is now $35 and the tank is now $21 for certain colors. I also picked up this <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=195473398&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">ruffle shell</a> which is now only $14 (seen on <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/2010/12/review-jcrew-lady-day-coat-in-petite-0.html">PAG</a>) and also this <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=195472972&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">ruffle cardigan</a> now only $21 and looked amazing on another petite in the <a href="http://forum.alterationsneeded.com/jcrew-sweater-t442.html">AN Forum</a>. The code expires Friday 12/17, and I already hear a lot of petite buzz about these items... we're probably going to end up all wearing the same things again! :)PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com26tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7626256958127756377.post-85603743550426660462010-12-07T07:25:00.000-08:002011-02-01T10:14:07.152-08:00A Short Coat Here & A Long Coat ThereWhen it rains, it pours! Both in terms of work, where every day has been busier than the last, but luckily also in terms of shopping for coats! I had ordered a whole bunch, hoping that may be one or two would work out. And while usually my success rate is almost always zero, this year for some reason I keep finding potential keepers!<br />
<br />
While I am definitely keeping my <a href="http://www.petitexxs.com/2010/11/jack-bb-dakota-romaine-plush-coat.html">Jack BB Dakota</a> coat, I'm also being tempted by these two recent petite-friendly finds. First is the A|X <a href="http://www.armaniexchange.com/product/womens/sale+outerwear/fitted+peacoat.do?asc=&sortby=&size=&imageName=2503.11045.9806.041&sizeName=">Fitted Peacoat</a> in XS:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.armaniexchange.com/product/womens/sale+outerwear/fitted+peacoat.do?asc=&sortby=&size=&imageName=2503.11045.9806.041&sizeName=" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img593.imageshack.us/img593/2927/screenshot20101207at703.png" width="237" /></a><a href="http://www.armaniexchange.com/product/womens/sale+outerwear/fitted+peacoat.do?asc=&sortby=&size=&imageName=2503.11045.9806.041&sizeName=" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/1443/screenshot20101207at705.png" width="228" /></a></div><br />
I was pretty impressed by how slim this fits! The sleeves are a bit long but not so long that I'd have to get alterations. The length of course is longer on me, but I dare say that it actually fits even closer to the body on me that it does on the model. It retails for $185, now on sale for $149 and A|X has a free shipping and $50 off $150 purchase with code <b>50FORHER</b> which ends on 12/15. They also offer free return shipping or returns to store as well.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Second is the Banana Republic <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=177102286&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">Wool Ruffle Coat</a> in Sugar Plum, size XXSP:</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><table style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td><div style="-moz-background-clip: border; -moz-background-inline-policy: continuous; -moz-background-origin: padding; background: white none repeat scroll 0% 0%; border: 1px solid rgb(191, 191, 191);"><div style="padding: 5px; text-align: center;"><a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=177102286&pid=uid3601-1395551-96" rel="nofollow" target="_blank"><img height="400" src="http://img821.imageshack.us/img821/4552/br78108901vliv01.jpg" style="border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none;" width="300" /></a></div></div></td></tr>
</tbody></table><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I got it on a whim because it was on sale at the time with an extra 40% off, making it about ~$100. I didn't expect too much but as it turns out I'm also tempted to keep this one! I love the eggplant purple, and while the coat isn't as slim-fitting as my Jack BB Dakota, the fit is not too bad overall and is good for throwing over any amount of layers underneath.</div><br />
Do I need all these coats, especially in CA weather? Probably not. But I sure do WANT them all lol. And of course I still have one more coat in <a href="http://www.shopstyle.com/action/apiVisitRetailer?id=278982&pid=uid3601-1395551-96">olive</a> coming in the mail from J.Crew, courtesy of <a href="http://www.extrapetite.com/2010/12/jcrew-30-off-sale-picks-for-petites.html">PAG</a>. If that one fits well too, I really don't know what I'm going to do!<br />
<br />
<i>Sorry I didn't have any time to take actual modeling pics... maybe I will do a collage of all my winter coat acquisitions when everything gets here! :)</i>PetiteXXShttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04452994753872183538noreply@blogger.com18
